SCOTTISH CHARITY, No. SC046634The allotments were established alongside the Lamont Farm Project in 1978 on land provided at that time by Renfrew District Council to provide ground for the growing of fruit and vegetables. There are 44 plots in total made up of 39 full size plots and 5 half size plots.Over the years the allotments have changed from a mainly men only pastime to having more women, families and disabled groups along with the supporting the Community Payback Scheme starting to grow their own food.
There has been a massive revival of interest in people wanting to grow their own fruit and vegetables in recent years. As a result, in Renfrewshire there is an increasing number of community led projects evolving, allowing people to take part in this revival.
